Homemade Eatmore Bars taste like the classic Canadian chocolate bar — chewy, toffee-like squares with oats, peanuts, and a touch of chocolate.
It’s the season for Christmas baking: the moment we pull out favorite recipes and decide which treats make the goody tray. This year I pared my list down to only the family favorites, and Homemade Eatmore Bars were an easy choice.

I tried these bars for the first time last year and they became the only new addition I made twice. Anything that earns a repeat on my never-ending “to make” list is definitely worth sharing.
What are Eatmore Bars?
In Canada, the Eat-More candy bar is well known for its chewy dark toffee, peanuts, and chocolate. These homemade bars are a faithful replica: chewy, peanut-forward, slightly chocolatey, and studded with oats for texture. They’re nostalgic for me — my mom used to buy them by the case — and they’re surprisingly simple to make at home.

Because we moved away, I became the family supplier of Eatmore bars. Fortunately, they’re easy: just five common ingredients and no baking required.
Great recipe! I have made it vegan and not vegan. Everyone loves it!

How to Make Homemade Eatmore Bars
Prep is minimal: chop the peanuts (with a nut chopper, food processor, or by hand), heat the corn syrup and peanut butter until it boils (about 8–10 minutes), stir in the chocolate until melted, then combine with the peanuts and oats. Press the mixture into a parchment-lined 9×13″ pan, chill until firm, and cut into squares.
This is an accessible dessert for bakers of all skill levels. The batch makes a large tray, perfect for gifting or filling a holiday tray, and they tend to disappear quickly.

Homemade Eatmore Bars

Equipment
-
Nut chopper or food processor (optional)
-
9×13″ baking pan
-
Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 2 cups (292 g) unsalted dry-roasted peanuts
- 1 ¼ cup (102 g) rolled oats
- ½ cup (129 g) smooth or crunchy peanut butter
- 1 cup (341 g) golden corn syrup
- 1 ¾ cup (315 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Line a 9×13″ baking pan with parchment paper and lightly oil the sides. Trim the parchment to fit the bottom of the pan if needed.
-
Coarsely chop 2 cups of unsalted dry-roasted peanuts using a nut chopper, food processor (pulse carefully), or a knife. Combine the chopped peanuts with 1 ¼ cups rolled oats in a large bowl and set aside.
-
In a small saucepan, mix ½ cup peanut butter and 1 cup golden corn syrup. Heat over medium until it comes to a gentle boil, about 8–10 minutes, stirring to prevent sticking.
-
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 ¾ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips until they are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
-
Pour the warm chocolate–peanut butter mixture over the peanut and oat mixture. Stir until everything is evenly combined. Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until fully set, about 1–2 hours.
-
After chilling, let the tray sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to soften slightly, then cut into squares. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for several days or freeze for longer storage.
