Comforting Slow Cooker Chicken with Fluffy Dumplings

This comforting slow cooker chicken and dumplings is a winter family favorite. It’s easy to prepare, hearty, and—best of all—husband approved.

Ingredients

  • 4-6 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 10.75 ounce cans condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 14 oz can chicken broth
  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Optional vegetables: garlic, celery, or other vegetables as desired
  • 1 10 ounce package refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces

Instructions

  • Place the chicken, butter, condensed cream of chicken soup, and diced onion in the slow cooker. Pour in the chicken broth until the ingredients are just covered.
  • Cover and cook on High for 5 to 6 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender. About one hour before serving, add the torn biscuit dough pieces to the cooker. Continue cooking until the dumplings are cooked through and no longer raw in the center.
  • Before serving, shred or cut the chicken into bite-size pieces and gently stir to combine with the sauce and dumplings. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
