  • Grain alcohol (Everclear) 190 proof / 95%: High-proof grain alcohol dissolves essential oils better than lower-proof spirits and helps preserve the mixture. If unavailable, 151 proof vodka can be used but may not solubilize the oils as well.
  • Distilled water: Prevents contamination and spoilage from minerals in tap water. If you don’t have distilled water, boil tap water and let it cool before using.
  • 30–50 drops total essential oils: Scents vary between brands—smell before buying when possible. For this holiday blend, use a combination of Siberian fir (or Douglas fir/pine), juniper berry, clove, wild orange (or tangerine), and a drop or two of cinnamon if desired.
  • Labels: Create your own or use printable templates. Weatherproof labels are recommended if the bottles may see humidity or shower use.

Ingredients

  • 4-ounce fine-mist spray bottle
  • 2 ounces distilled water
  • 1.5 ounces Everclear (grain alcohol) or high-proof spirit
  • 50 drops Siberian fir, Douglas fir, or pine (Siberian fir preferred)
  • 20 drops juniper berry
  • 5 drops clove
  • 5 drops wild orange or tangerine
  • 1–2 drops cinnamon (optional)
  • Printable labels (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the bottle: Clean bottles with distilled water and let them drain.
  2. Add essential oils: Drop in the oils. This blend is designed to be on the stronger side so scent lingers longer; reduce drops if you prefer a lighter aroma.
  3. Add alcohol and water: Pour in the grain alcohol and swirl to help dissolve the oils, then top up with distilled water. Shake well and adjust—add more oil for strength or a little extra water for a milder scent.
  4. Label and store: Dry the bottle surface and affix a label. Store in a cool, dark place to preserve fragrance.
