A few years ago, just before I started this blog, my husband and I surprised our very young children with a magical Easter Bunny footprint trail around our sidewalks and scattered Easter eggs along the path. It was so much fun and surprisingly simple to create. Kids of all ages love the wonder of discovering little paw prints leading to hidden treats.

Easter Bunny Trail
We wanted the trail to look like the Easter Bunny hopped the way children imagine—two paws together—so we created prints that show both feet side by side. Little details like that make the experience feel authentic and spark imaginations.

Because our kids were very young (one was still crawling), the egg hunt was easy and accessible. If your children are older, keep the bunny trail but make the egg hunt more challenging by hiding eggs in trickier spots or adding clues. When the fun is over, the trail is easy to remove—sweep it away with a broom or rinse it off with a hose.

I used an aluminum baking pan and scissors to cut out the paw shapes so the extra flour stayed contained in the pan. If you don’t have an aluminum pan, you can adapt with what you have: a paper plate, sturdy cardboard, or construction paper work well. Another option is to draw paw prints with sidewalk chalk. Whatever method you choose, children will be delighted and surprised to find a bunny trail leading to their treats.

Ingredients
- Scissors
- Aluminum baking pan (or substitute)
- Flour or another white powder
Instructions
-
Cut two paw-shaped openings in the aluminum pan, sized so both paws can appear side by side.

Press the pan onto the sidewalk, lift it straight up, and two white paw prints will remain.
-
The extra flour stays inside the pan for an easy, tidy cleanup.
