How I Deal With Imposter Syndrome
Almost everyone experiences imposter syndrome at some point. It’s that creeping conviction—often strongest before a major step—that you’re a fraud and others will discover you don’t belong. For some people it’s a mild annoyance, like a mosquito buzzing in the ear. For others, it’s a loud, paralyzing voice that keeps them from sharing their skills, insights, and gifts.
I don’t claim to be the definitive authority on imposter syndrome, but having lived with it for most of my life I’ve developed a set of approaches that reliably help me move through it. In this episode I outline five strategies I use, often mixing and matching them depending on the situation. Hopefully a few will resonate and be useful for you.
