Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the fondant decorations first. Lightly dust your countertop with cornstarch and roll the fondant to about 1/8 inch thickness.

Step 2: Cut the green fondant into small leaf shapes using a small kitchen knife. Angle the cut slightly to give the leaf a natural shape.

Step 3: Cut the brown fondant into short stem shapes to attach above each leaf.

Step 4: Melt the red candy melts. Place the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 1 minute. Stir, then heat in 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth. Give it one final stir before dipping.

Step 5: Dip each mini pretzel into the melted candy using tweezers or a fork. Allow excess coating to drip off, then set the coated pretzel on parchment paper. Continue until all pretzels are coated.

Step 6: While the coating is still wet, place a fondant leaf and stem on each pretzel to create the apple look. Let the pretzels sit about 30 minutes to fully harden before serving or packing.

Sweet and Salty Snack

These apple pretzels are quick to make, portable, and fun to serve. The crunchy pretzel with the sweet candy coating is a delicious contrast that kids and adults both enjoy. They’re an easy way to dress up a simple snack for back-to-school events, classroom parties, or lunchboxes. Try them this week and see how fast they disappear!
