Crispy Air Fryer Italian-Style Meatballs in 20 Minutes

Moist, tender, and full of savory flavor, these air fryer meatballs are a fast and simple way to enjoy a classic favorite. They combine ground beef with onion, garlic, and salty Parmesan for the ultimate comfort food.

Meatballs are one of my go-to dishes. While spaghetti and meatballs is a nostalgic weeknight comfort, meatballs also work well as an elegant appetizer or party dish. Many recipes end up dry or take a lot of effort, but these air fryer meatballs stay juicy, are packed with flavor, and come together quickly.

Loaded with garlic, onion, parsley, and Parmesan, these meatballs are perfectly seasoned and reliably tender. Whether you want an easy family dinner or an appetizer for a gathering, these foolproof air fryer meatballs are a great choice.

Why You’ll Love These Air Fryer Meatballs

These are one of my favorite quick Italian-style meals. Here are a few reasons they’re worth making.

  • Easy. This recipe is straightforward and fast — you can have seasoned, juicy meatballs in about 15 minutes.
  • Moist. Milk, eggs, and a touch of olive oil keep the meatballs tender. The air fryer cooks them quickly so they retain their juiciness instead of drying out.
  • Minimal mess. Preparation is simple and cleanup is light, making this a convenient weeknight option.

What You’ll Need

These common ingredients make flavorful, tender meatballs. See the recipe card below for exact measurements.

  • Ground beef – lean is best to avoid excess grease.
  • Olive oil
  • Onion – finely chopped; yellow is ideal.
  • Garlic – minced for best flavor.
  • Eggs – bind and add moisture.
  • Breadcrumbs – plain breadcrumbs work well.
  • Parmesan cheese – freshly grated if possible.
  • Parsley – chopped, for freshness.
  • Milk – adds moisture and tenderness.
  • Salt – to season.

Tips & Variations

Small adjustments let you customize these meatballs to your taste.

  • Don’t crowd the basket. Leave space between meatballs so hot air can circulate and they brown evenly. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Add heat. Stir in red pepper flakes or chopped Calabrian chiles for spicy meatballs.
  • Change the meat. This mix works with pork, lamb, turkey, or chicken if you prefer a different flavor or leaner option.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Meatballs

These meatballs are great as a finger food with marinara for dipping, but they’re also excellent on top of pasta. Serve with simple sides like bruschetta, garlic bread, a green salad, or roasted vegetables for a satisfying meal.

  • Bruschetta
  • Garlic bread
  • Roasted Brussels sprouts
  • Tomato and mozzarella salad

How to Store & Reheat Leftovers

Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F air fryer for about 5 minutes or in the microwave in short intervals until hot.

Can I Freeze These?

Yes. Let meatballs cool, then freeze in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen in a 350°F air fryer for about 8 minutes, or until heated through.
